The UNESCO conference on ESD (Nagoya, Nov.2014)
The UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) will be co-organized in 2014 by UNESCO and the Government of Japan on the occasion of the end of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. It has the following four objectives:
The UNESCO chair "Education, training and research for sustainable development" and the UNITWIN network have joined together to better mobilise the Francophone university world in order to more efficiently and visibly develop policies, abilities and resources for education, training and research and the transfer of knowledge for sustainable development.
The project, developed as part of an extended inter-university partnership, has several objectives :
1. To train teachers in order to improve education and training on sustainable development by taking into account the specific environmental, socio-economic and cultural issues of the countries involved.
3-4 June 2010 : establishing the network and launching actions :
The June conference in Bordeaux made it possible to analyse the potential of each of the universities and to identify the expectations of the university communities and the other members of society in education, training, information and research on sustainable development in order to define the main actions to develop as part of a common strategy applied locally, nationally and regionally.
