3rd international conference of the UNESCO chair,

Rectors and presidents in charge of the different francophone higher institutions members of the Unitwin network will meet in Bordeaux (27, 28 and 29 May 2019) in order to take stock of education, training and research activities on sustainable development during the three years since the March 2016 conference and to define the 2019-2022 strategy of the chair in association with its different private and public partners. The theme of the conference will be: "Education for sustainable development, a transition lever for our societies"

First Meeting of the International Steering Group

for the End-of-United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development Conference (Japan, 2014) UNESCO, Paris September 6-7, 2011

The International Steering Group (ISG) for the preparation of the conference that will mark the end of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD) in 2014 is made up of 12 experts on ESD and related fields.

The ISG, to which Michel RICARD is a member, will ensure that a maximum of expertise is mobilized for the organisation of the conference and that the concerns of all world regions as well as the full scope of ESD are reflected in the programme.

The new European TEMPUS project on ESD (2011-2013)

The UNESCO chair  as well as the University of Bordeaux are the French Partners in the newly launched TEMPUS project with the acronym RUCAS , which is led by the Dept. of Primary Education of the University of Crete.

Tokyo 2014

Final world conference of the Decade of ESD

A final world conference on the United Nations Decade 2005-2014 of Education for Sustainable Development will take place in Tokyo in 2014. The half-way conference of the Decade took place in Bonn (Germany) in 2009.

The first meeting of the International steering committee will take place in Paris, at UNESCO on the 6-7th of September 2011.

End of 2013 : International Conference on sustainable development

The conference in Bordeaux at the end of 2013 will bring together the universities of the UNITWIN network, as well as their various partners in order to take stock of the last four years in education, training, and research for sustainable development and to prepare a final document for the final world conference of the United Nations Decade of education for sustainable development that will take place in Tokyo in 2014.

Action Plan 2010-2013

2010-2013 : setting up of an action plan for the network and monitoring progress :

For four years the actions chosen by the heads of the chair and the multi-partner steering committee will be developed. These actions will be monitored and assessed using specific indicators, especially those of UNESCO and UNECE. These four years correspond with the four year term of 2010-2013 of the International Francophone Organisation and the end of the United Nations decade of education for sustainable development.
