The new European TEMPUS project on ESD (2011-2013)

The UNESCO chair  as well as the University of Bordeaux are the French Partners in the newly launched TEMPUS project with the acronym RUCAS , which is led by the Dept. of Primary Education of the University of Crete.

The project is entitled Reorient University Curricula to Address Sustainability (RUCAS), it was launched on October 2010 and has a 3-yr duration. Main goal of RUCAS is to support the development of ESD in the Higher Education sector in developing countries (Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon) with the help of developed countries (France, Ireland, Italy, Sweden). Kick off meeting of the project was organised in Crete in 14-15 December 2010, with the participation of Michel RICARD as the professor in charge of this program for France. A project website is under development.

The program started a few days ago with the sending of a questionnaire to all the students enrolled in Bordeaux universities. This questionnaire deals with issues of education for sustainable development in higher education, and especially in license. In this questionnaire, are asked a number of questions that will help to design and infuse sustainable development issues in study program. To this end, answers to this questionnaire are very valuable. 6000 answers are expected. All responses will be kept confidential and results are reported only in statistical form.
